Indistinct Cat With A Cigar
Pending Sale
Adapted posthumously from the original oil on illustration board.
This is Indistinct Cat with Cigar. A life-long smoker, Dr. Seuss never smoked where a child might see him. In September 1981 Ted had a minor heart attack; his doctor insisted no more cigarettes. Twenty years earlier he tried to quit by chewing on a corncob pipe planted with strawberry seeds. This time he filled that pipe with peat moss, planted radish seeds and watered it with an eyedropper—a very Seussian solution. More information here.
