Dave Roberts
Dave Roberts has been creating art on the Etch a Sketch for over twenty years. Beginning in high school, he realized that he could make people smile with just a simple drawing on his Etch-A-Sketch. However, as he grew older he began to understand that this classic toy had the potential to become a full-fledged artistic medium.
After years of perfecting his craft, Dave has positioned himself as the only Etch A Sketch artist working in the fine art arena. He has since exhibited his work in galleries throughout the country.
Using a toy once believed to be capable of drawing only straight lines, Dave uses the two knobs to create incredibly complex scenes. His body of work has grown to include landscape, architecture and human figures- all from a single, unbroken line. After each of these classically rendered drawings is completed, he removes the excess powder from inside the toy, thus preserving it for generations to come.
