Gino Sabino Is a Brazilian/Canadian artist living in Vancouver, Canada. He is a sculptor, painter and print maker. He began his artistic activities in 1973.
Gino also graduated in engineering and got a specialization in “Baroque Culture and Art”.  In 1997, he studied “Restoration of Antique Wood” at Palazzo Spinelli Institute in
Florence, Italy.

With several exhibitions in New York, Amsterdam, Sao Paulo, Florence, and Vancouver in the last 20 years, his most intense forms of art work are micro-sculptures in lead pencil and wood engraving.

His art on lead pencil is connected with our present time, a time to search for the macro and the microcosm. It is the tendency of mankind to seek new frontiers of the universe, as well as for sub particles of the atom. This is an adventure for Gino. He explores a small volume in the micro-sculptures in lead pencil, which more than just virtuosity, this new proposal and challenge invites the observer to approach on a new reality that almost seems not to be there.

The micro-sculptures can also be grouped together under one same concept or theme. For not being a traditional fine art object, the micro-sculptures cause a glimpse to the observer. An aesthetic microcosm is being built… Gino does not want to put value in his art work for audacity or exoticism considering the size of the micro sculptures, but instead, for the idea of developing an artistic microcosm. His innovation of sculpting in white lead, like "carrara marble", adds more value and elegance to the work as a whole.

It is impossible to observe the micro-sculptures without “bending” over in front of them. Necessarily you must approach, concentrate, appreciate the main idea and let yourself go “inside the art work”; to see its fine detail as this type of artwork cannot be appreciated from a distance. You’ll be in front of a new reality that is different from a large painting, but in a philosophical way, it is absolutely the same.
